Stepping Out Theatre and Coronavirus Update

In 2020, we mounted our first two productions which were created, rehearsed and performed wholly online. For as long as physical meetings remain difficult because of the coronavirus emergency in 2021, Stepping Out will continue to run a programme of online activities, workshops, rehearsals and productions serviced by our WhatsApp groups and Zoom meetings. To know more about these activities, please contact Steve Hennessy on 07790 980688.

A unique theatre company

Formed in 1997, based in Bristol, and with eighty three productions to its credit, Stepping Out Theatre is the country's leading mental health theatre group. It has produced a wide range of work on mental health themes and is open to people who have used mental health services and their allies.

Mark Rylance, Patron

"The work Stepping Out Theatre is doing should be supported by all interested in a society that is healthy. Stepping Out understands and does not shy away from the possibility that theatre, the ancient art of these islands North West of Europe, is a transformative and healing activity which brings joy into people's lives. If you want to hear something true, go and hear what Stepping Out Theatre are saying. I only found myself in theatre, and I hear that Stepping Out is helping other people do the same. I have great hopes for this company and deep respect for what they are doing right now."

The Best Medicine Show

The Best Medicine Show is a brand new cabaret for the Covid era from Stepping Out Associate Artist Garth Williams and Safety Catch Theatre. It is chock full of Outdoor Artists who originally streamed live to people's living rooms on Facebook (on the @safetycatchTV page) and can now be viewed in a recording on YouTube below.

Join us for a fun filled antidote to the bitter truth pills we are all being made to swallow and witness a wonky Zoom call going wrong like you've never seen before.

Featuring a line up of brilliant acts hosted by your new Chief Medical Doctor ~ Doctor Montgomery (Garth Williams), with help from Nurse Evans (Megan Brooks).

Sars Cov-2 will be as infectious as ever (Paschale Straiton from Red Herring Productions).

Dizzy O'Dare will grace us with his Magic Fly (not the kind that lands on your head mid debate).

Granny Crank will share an Aerial Fly By & Salute (Aim To Fly's Mel Stevens).

Madame Zucchini will host a unique Town Hall debate with some very special guests.

& Precious Cleaver will sing us a cheery little ditty to see us through.

With live Audio/Video manipulation using Isadora, programmed by L Wilson-Spiro.

Be there or turn into a Pumpkin!
