A doublebill of short plays

Death and Life and In Between by David Carter

Nobody Here But us Chickens by Peter Barnes

Two views from the madhouse . . Are you a man or a chicken? is the question posed in Nobody Here But Us Chickens, an offbeat and hilarious comedy by Peter Barnes (The Ruling Class, Leonardo's Last Supper, Red Noses).

Are you alive or dead? asks the darkly comic Death and Life and In Between, a new play by David Carter.

For the production at the Rondo Theatre, Bath, Stepping Out were pleased to mount our first co-production with Chrysalis Theatre - a new local theatre group working with users of HIV / AIDS, drug and alcohol services.

Reviews

"Gunnary Cauthery and Noni Lewis play the two characters with disarming forthrightness . . Stepping Out Theatre Company once again proves that small can be beautiful and that, given the right treatment, personal issues can powerfully hit a universal mark."
 Rina Vergano, Venue Magazine

"Yet this is not a trite, two dimensional essay on schizophrenia. The audience is constantly left chasing who is who as Ben Tinniswood (initially a patient in a secure hospital) and Noni Lewis (his visiting girlfriend) swap identities and perspectives . . it's story unresolved, but powerful nonetheless."
 Chris Mitchell, Metro
